Description of the Agenda: Defending a new sustainable, innovative and decarbonising paradigm, which finds in the sea an answer to the challenge of global scarcity of land resources, and bringing together various national industries, the Blue Bioeconomy Pact aims to develop new products, processes and services resulting from the incorporation of blue bioeconomy goods into new or existing value chains, with a positive impact on the environment, the lives of consumers and national exports. It will invest in 7 sectors - through: application of biomaterials; new paradigm for shellfish production; marine-based textiles; sustainability in the food sector; increasing algae production; circular food solutions; bioinformatics for the fisheries sector -, and in 3 cross-cutting initiatives aimed at accelerating the development and commercialisation of products and services in the sector - the Portuguese Blue Biobanks network, a digital platform for the valorisation of marine co-products, and in promoting the growth and internationalisation of companies and SMEs.
Thus, the planned investment aims to (i) Boost the development of a cutting-edge industrial economic sector, based on the application of marine bioresources to multiple industries; (ii) Be the first major sample of the transversal and ecological potential of marine biotechnology solutions; (ii) Contribute to positioning Portugal in the global context, as a pioneer in a sector that is estimated to reach €200 billion globally by 2030; (iv) Materialise the great opportunity for growth and innovation in the marine industries (aquaculture, fisheries, canning) and for differentiation of traditional Portuguese industries that are currently far from the sea (textiles, cork, fertilisers, human health).

Project Name: Wasteless
Project code: 101084222
Main objective: WASTELESS aims to develop tools and recommendations for measuring and monitoring food losses and waste (FLW) which will ultimately
contribute to its reduction by at least 20% annually. The main objective of the project is to develop tools to measure FLW in critical and less-known food supply
chains and propose ways of quantifying the data. At the same time, it will develop an innovative set of decision-support tools for all those working along the food
chain across the EU, to enable reduction and re-use of food waste in the long term. WASTELESS will carry out five case studies to understand utilisation and
role/contribution of specific food groups such as fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, processed meat, dairy products and cereals in the FLW.

As part of the AHFES project, Colab4Food provided an Environmental Sustainability Diagnosis service to the following companies: Conservas Pinhais, Decorgel, Sense Test and Cevadas. To prepare this diagnosis, the Colab4Food team visited the companies' premises and collected information on the acquisition and management of raw materials, the main sources of energy, water management and solid waste. At the follow-up meetings, the results of the diagnosis were presented and suggestions for improvement were proposed with a view to increasing the companies' environmental sustainability, reinforcing their commitment to the 2030 Agenda and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of this project, Colab4Food organised a workshop on "Circular Business Models", which was attended by several companies from the agri-food sector as well as public institutions.
